Wed, Jul 8, 1:00 AM UTC · Southeast Poplar Avenue 1551, Portland, Oregon, United States Come hang out with your favorite nerds and discuss the atmo projects and topics you're most excited about! This month, Graze Social founder, @DevinGaffney.com will kick off the meeting with a presentation on @CoCore.dev, a co-op experiment that allows members to freely use and share compute with each other. In his talk, he'll discuss: - What Co/Core is, what it does, and how it works - How technologies like Co/Core can be tools of liberation - Devin's checklist for design: economic value, community organizing, and anti-enshittification *Co/Core in Devin's words:* > We're in the era of skeuomorphs. To realize what something like atproto can actually do, we have to push hard into the specific flexibilities it affords — the ones that let us challenge, rather than merely re-stage, the products we're making skeuomorphs of. What we need isn't skeuomorphs but lyrebirds: things that wear the surface affordances of the familiar while running an entirely different drive underneath. That's what our team believes we're building with Graze: a vehicle that looks functionally like the affordances people already know, packed with new ideologies and mechanisms of attentional liberation. > CoCore is a deliberate experiment at one of those edges. It widens the aperture by taking seriously two spectra of design: what counts as a social act on atproto, and how a record represents one. My claim is that skeuomorphs tend to share the same answers to both — and that exploring the extremes of those spectra is itself a roadmap for the future of what we can build on-protocol. **Agenda:** 6:00 - 6:10 | Arrival, snacks, hangout 6:10 - 6:20 | Welcome 6:20 - 6:40 | @CoCore.dev by @DevinGaffney.com 6:40 - 7:15 | Demos & Discussions 7:15 - 7:30 | Regroup and discuss 7:30 | Close Hope to see you there!
