Virtual Nonfiction Book Club

# Virtual Nonfiction Book Club We read curious nonfiction together on Zoom, about once a month, since 2014. ## About Us We started as an in-person group in Pittsburgh, went virtual in 2020, and we're about 180 books along. Our taste runs wide: how fungi shape the world, why traffic behaves the way it does, what the Americas looked like in 1491, why introverts get overlooked, how precision engineering made modern life possible. Mostly popular science and social science, with regular detours into history, design, language, and the occasional funny memoir. If it's curious and well written, it's fair game. ### How it works - **When:** about once a month, usually a Tuesday at 7pm Eastern. - **Where:** Zoom, so you can join from anywhere. - **Homework:** read the whole book, read half of it, or read none of it and come for the conversation. Nobody checks. - **The discussion:** it tends to wander into tangents and personal stories, which is honestly the best part. - **Picking books:** we choose the next book together at the end of each meeting, so showing up is how you get a vote. Suggestions are welcome any time and go onto the list. ### Join us! Every event page has a short description of the book and links to a library copy, a bookstore, and sometimes an author interview, so you can pick whichever way you like to read.
